  • Current PCS, household goods affected by supply shortages

    According to a newly released communiqué from the Air Force’s Personal Property Activity Headquarters, “Department of Defense demand this peak (PCS) season has greatly exceeded commercial industry capabilities, largely due to resource constraints associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Per industry, this resulted in a 25% decrease in their labor pool, resulting in (decreased) personal property movement capacity necessary to support private sector and government demand.”

  • Air Force releases updated fitness test score breakdown

    The Air Force will resume physical fitness testing July 1 with only three components: push-ups, sit-ups and the 1.5-mile run. The waist measurement will no longer be required as part of the physical fitness test.

  • National Police week 2021 recognizes defenders

    National Police Week (May 9 - May 15) at Columbus Air Force Base is held to recognize security forces and local law enforcement personnel who defend the base. To show appreciation to the 14th Security Forces Squadron, several events were held on base to include a ruck march, K9 demonstrations, Battle of the Badges competition, a K9 retirement ceremony and more.
  • WWII Veteran Bradford Freeman receives honor for his service

    On a sunny morning in Mississippi, a challenge coin was presented to Mr. Bradford Freeman, the last surviving original member of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The coin was presented on behalf of Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and represented a connection between different generations and memories.
