Members of the First Sergeants Council surprised members of the Columbus Air Force Base community by performing random acts of kindness at the Commissary and at the Gas Pumps outside of the Shoppette during the week of July 22-26.

"Operation WarmHeart is an AF-Wide initiative to care for our total force Airmen and Families," said Master Sgt. Shawn Andrews, 14th Operations Group First Sergeant. "Here at Columbus, we have a robust program. Throughout the year, the First Sergeants hold several fundraisers to support Operation WarmHeart."

Andrews continued by saying that whenever they have extra donations, they like to give the money back to members of the Columbus AFB community.

Operation WarmHeart is a year-round program. The most visible programs come at the end of the year during the holidays when the Council provides meals and baskets of food during Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also sponsor an Angel Tree for the children of members of team BLAZE that need a little assistance.

"It's truly an awesome feeling to give back to the base, and we take the opportunity to spread the word about Operation WarmHeart and how it benefits our Airmen and Families," said Andrews.
