Caledonia Elementary School celebrates receiving Blue Ribbon Award Caledonia Elementary School students and teachers release blue balloons during a parade Nov. 21 on Main Street in Caledonia, Miss., to celebrate the school’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2014. Caledonia Elementary was recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as one of 337 schools nationwide, and the only public school in Mississippi, to receive the award. This accolade was based on their overall academic excellence and/or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
