media blast
Robert Wilson III, corrosion control worker, tests the new blasting facility August 9. The blasting facility will allow workers to strip paint in an environmentally-friendly way for the more than 500 Air Force and Navy aircraft that the base services. To avoid being too heavy, each plane must be stripped of its old paint before it can be repainted. The aircraft are repainted every three to four years to prevent corrosion. The upgraded facility will increase production by 44 percent and save approximately $150,000. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Airman 1st Class Stephanie Englar)
