Kayser takes command of 14 MSG Published Aug. 15, 2014 By Senior Airman Kaleb Snay 14th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- A change of command ceremony was held Aug. 12 at the Fire Station, celebrating Col. Kurt Kayser taking command of the 14th Mission Support Group. Col. John Nichols, 14th Flying Training Wing Commander, handed the guidon for the 14 MSG to Kayser signifying a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for the unit. This signifies an allegiance of personnel to their unit's commander and also ensures the unit is never without official leadership. "I'm excited to take over the 14 MSG," said Kayser. "Taking command of a group is a great thing and I'm excited to lead them. I know I'm taking over a group with a great legacy." Kayser previously served as the Commander, Air Force Element for the Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. He received his commission in 1991 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a core Personnel Officer who has had a myriad of assignments in various support specialties. Kayser has commanded a Training Support Squadron, United States Air Force Academy Cadet Squadron, Security Forces Element and now a diverse, joint Agency Service Element. His deployments include support of Operations New Dawn, Noble Eagle and Joint Endeavor. He is married to the former Joanne Marie Raditz, also from Wisconsin, and they have two children, Kaden and Allegra.
