The 14th Security Forces Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base is gearing up for National Police Week. The 14th SFS and local law enforcement will join forces to host a series of events that honor the fallen, celebrate those who currently serve in the police force and show support for the base community.

Senior Airman Jocelyn Smith, a 14th SFS flight sergeant, believes that honoring fallen officers reflects respect for the sacrifices made while protecting others.

Smith has taken the lead in organizing this year’s National Police Week. She said she has enjoyed bringing her squadron together to plan the event and hopes to extend that sentiment to the community while honoring those in law enforcement.

National Police Week recognizes the responsibility of the police force and the security forces personnel who protect service members, installations and resources daily. It is a solemn time of remembrance for those fallen in the line of duty and a celebration for the men and women who currently protect their local communities.

This event is an annual tradition at Columbus Air Force Base, serving as a recurring reminder of the unwavering commitment of the installation's security forces. The community is encouraged to join this year's observance to honor the legacy of the fallen and celebrate the dedication of active-duty Defenders.
