Dormsgiving provides hot meal to residents Published Nov. 19, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Danielle Powell 14th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. -- Dorm residents gathered Thursday for the annual Dormsgiving at the Base Chapel. Residents are offered a hot meal with all the Thanksgiving fixings. The menu included a turkey, vegetables, stuffing, as well as a desert table. Airman 1st Class Jimmy Lucarz, 14th Security Forces Squadron, enjoyed his first Dormsgiving at CAFB. "I enjoyed it because of the free food. I also enjoyed spending this time with the people I appreciate. I rarely get to hang out with these people all at once," said Airman Lucarz. Not only did the dorm residents receive a home cooked meal, prepared by supervisors and commanders on base, but they were also given an opportunity to win prizes. Airman 1st Class Michael Willison, 14th Medical Operations Squadron, won a NASCAR poster. Airman 1st Class Ryan Allen, 14th Operations Support Squadron, won a Mississippi State University tailgating tent. While residents of the enlisted dorms meet every other month and are provided with a hot meal, the Dormsgiving provided the opportunity for officer dorm residents to also enjoy a meal. This meal gave the residents an opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal since most of them will be apart from their families for Thanksgiving. It all provided an opportunity for them to interact with their supervisors and base leadership outside of the work environment.
