Club to host membership night Published Nov. 30, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Danielle Powell 14th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. -- The Columbus Club will be hosting a Membership Appreciation Night Thursday. Member Appreciation Night is set for 5 to 9 p.m. at the Columbus Club. The bull riding will be from 5 to 8 p.m., and a free western buffet will be served until 7 p.m. Drink specials and door prizes also will be offered. Adult club members and their spouses are welcome to attend, and Western attire is encouraged. BLAZE Team members who are not Club members can join at the door on the night of the event. Those who sign-up Thursday night will receive six months free dues and an additional five door prize tickets. Services will also match their guaranteed winnings from the Air Force Club Membership Drive scratch-off ticket, which is valued from $5 to $100. The main event for the night will be a bull riding competition between the Colonels and Chief Master Sergeants. Members will also be able to ride the mechanical bull that night. There will be a competition for the best male and female riders. Participants will be competing for the grand prize of $100 in each category. Youth, ages 12 to 17, will also have an opportunity to ride the bull from 5 to 6 p.m. When asked why the BLAZE Team should come out for the event, Col. Mark Brown, 14th Mission Support Group commander, said "There will be a free full course barbeque dinner, the opportunity to watch the Colonels and Chiefs ride the bull or more importantly falling off the bull in a matter of seconds. Participants will have the chance to win $100 in the bull riding competition, win door prizes, take advantage of the beverage specials, socialize with your peers and show off your new western duds."
