Club membership has its benefits, to a degree Published May 5, 2008 By Jana Hall 14th Force Support Squadron COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. -- Twenty-five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to college bound students through the Air Force Club Scholarship program. Current Air Force club members and their family members, such as spouse, son, daughter, stepson and stepdaughter, who have been accepted by or are enrolled in an accredited college or university for entry during the fall of 2008 as a part-time or full time student are eligible. Applicant must provide a copy of their college or university acceptance letter. Grandchildren who are dependents of the club member are also eligible. Student enrollment status may involve either undergraduate or graduate curriculum. To enter, write and submit a 500 words or less essay on the following topic: "The Most Important Person in My Life". Essays exceeding 500 words, excluding title, will be disqualified. Essays must be typed in Microsoft Word, 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font, single-spaced, with double-spacing between paragraphs, one-inch top and bottom margins and 1.25 inch left and right margin and submitted on a CD or floppy disk. Essay package must include a CD or floppy containing: essay with participant's name, date and word count, the entry form and the current college/university acceptance letter or official transcripts. Submit your entries to 14 FSS/FSK, attention Jana Hall, by July 1. Final scholarship awards for school year 2008 and 2009 will be announced by September 19. All nominees will be advised of scholarship selection or non-selection. Only one essay per eligible person authorized. Entry forms are available at the Columbus Club, Education Office, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Fitness Center, Bowling Center and Library.
