Nigerian general's son earns USAF pilot wings

The commanding general officer, First Division Nigerian Army recently visited Columbus AFB, but it wasn't military concerns or world troubles that brought him here; it was a father's love.

Major Gen. Moses Bisong Obi came to Columbus AFB to watch his son, 1st Lt. Albert Obi, graduate from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training class 09-04 Jan. 23.

"We are proud our son is a product of Columbus AFB," he said. "Thank God to make this day possible."

The general said he was exceptionally proud of his son and enjoyed seeing the environment he was trained in.

"So much friendship is shown here," he said. "We have been so warmly welcomed; I always want to remember this visit. It has been a wonderful experience which we will always cherish."

Lieutenant Obi will return to his home country to fly the nations Alpha Jet at Tactical Air Base, Nigeria.
