As part of an Air Force initiative, Columbus Air Force Base will hold a Caring for People Forum June 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Caring for People Forum is designed to help Airmen, dependents, contractors and retirees raise issues to their base leadership and higher in the hopes of resolving them.

"If someone has an issue or concern about Air Force life or policy, the forum gives them an opportunity to share and offer suggestions for improvement.," said Traci Aldridge, 14th Medical Group Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist.

While the forum has been held at higher headquarters in the past, this year marks the first time it will be held at the installation level, Air Force wide.

Ms. Aldridge said the goal of the forum is to identify any possible service gaps at Columbus AFB and Air Force wide and to use the knowledge to improve the lives of Airmen and their families. Forum participants will take part in discussion groups organized around specific topics to identify top concerns and brainstorm solutions. At the end of the forum, wing leadership will hear the recommendations that come from community members.

This year's forum will include discussion groups on the topics of Single Airman Support, Deployment Support, Family Support, Health and Wellness Support and Housing Support. While these topics are specific, the discussion that will take place in each group will be guided by the issues and ideas brought by group members rather than being dictated by the group facilitator. Any issue is fair game.

Single Airman Support will cover the support of single enlisted and officers.

Deployment Support will encompass not only the support of those deployed downrange but their families also.

Family Support will address the needs of families of all groups, active duty, reserve, guard, contractors, civilians and retirees.

Health and Wellness Support will cover not only medical needs, but overall wellness needs also.

Finally, Housing Support will give members the chance to address housing needs for both families and singles.

Those interested in taking part in the forum should contact Traci Aldridge at 434-2239. Deadline to sign up for the forum is May 26, and the registration form can be found here. Registration forms should be emailed to afrc@columbus.af.mil.
