Medical clinic renovations imminent Published May 7, 2013 By J.E. Dunn Construction Company COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Big improvements are underway at Columbus Air Force Base. Beginning the May 1 you will start to see contractor activity at the Koritz Clinic. The 14th Medical Group is preparing to undergo a complete renovation that will consolidate patient care delivered by the 14th MDG, including Dental, into one building, providing a warm environment with an easy to navigate floor plan. This construction project will transition all medical services through a temporary facility in a two-phase process while the construction is underway inside the medical clinic. All services will continue to be available either in the clinic or the temporary facility located south of the medical clinic main entrance. The temporary facility will be adjacent to the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 1114 and clearly identified with appropriate signage. More information will be provided to our beneficiaries as we get closer to actual movement of patient services. Signage and the friendly, knowledgeable staff will aid in making the transition as smooth as possible with minimum disruption of services. Please look for additional information in the upcoming months. The project is scheduled to be complete mid-2015. Important 2013 project milestones dates are: · May 1 - JE Dunn on-site team mobilizes - Job Site Trailers and staging area work begins · May 11 - Main electrical shut down, Phase One (10 Hours on Saturday) · May 13 - Site utility installation for the Temporary Facility (TF) · May 18 - Main electrical shut down, Phase Two (Start 7 a.m. on May 18 and will conclude on May 19 at 3:30 p.m. · June 10 - New parking areas ready for public/clinic use · June 17 - Construction of Temporary Facility scheduled to begin · June 19 - Temporary road and contractor parking lot area constructed · Early August 13 - Phase One Transitional Move to TF · Mid September 13 - Ground Breaking Ceremony (Tentative) A complete Site Layout Plan will be available at the Medical Clinic indicating the location of the new parking areas and the Temporary Facility location as it orients to the existing clinic.
