Col. Douglas Gosney, 14th Flying Training Wing Commander, spoke at the Base Community Council luncheon Aug. 25, in the Club at Columbus Air Force Base.

The BCC is a multi-community organization that supports the common interest of the military and civilian communities. Members foster friendships between one another, exchange business ideas and expand local business relationships with the base.

“We have one objective,” said Larry Cantrell, BCC President. “That objective is to help this base complete its mission to the best of their ability. This community stands behind the base and the things they do. Our mission is their mission.”

In his first ever BCC luncheon, Gosney introduced himself and told the members about his philosophies and plans for Columbus AFB.

“We (his wife and himself) are so happy to be here,” said Gosney. “We have gotten such a warm welcome from the base and community. I look forward to getting to know all of you on a more personal level. It is evident to me already we do not do our mission without the support of our community partners.”

Over 80 members attended the luncheon including both community partners and various Columbus AFB leadership.

“Thanks to all in attendance for coming out today to this luncheon to meet me,” said Gosney. “This Golden Triangle Region, I know, is going to be a huge asset to how we continue to improve and carry out our mission here at Columbus.”
