Andrew Cruz, 14th Medical Operations Squadron Commander COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- The 14th Medical Group was recently surveyed by the Joint Commission and received a three-year medical accreditation.The Joint Commission is a United States-based nonprofit organization that accredits more than 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.A majority of state governments recognize Joint Commission accreditation as a condition of licensure.The Joint Commission process is designed to help the 14th MDG continuously provide safe, high quality care, treatment and services by identifying opportunities for improvement in their processes.There were over 1,300 elements of performance surveyed and the 14th MDG only had five minor requirements for improvement. The two surveyors inspecting the 14th MDG had over 45 years of Joint Commission survey experience and said this was as "good as we've seen in the U.S. Air Force."Col. Imelda Reedy, 14th MDG Commander, said it took teamwork."I have a great leadership team who care about all our medics," Reedy said. "In turn, our medics love what they do every day."
