Col. John Nichols, 14th Flying Training Wing Commander, spoke to members of Team BLAZE during his Commander's Calls Aug 1 at the Kaye auditorium.

"I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome to Columbus Air Force Base," said Nichols. "It's been three weeks since my wife, Michelle, and I passed through the front gate. Having just completed immersion with the 14th Operations, Mission Support and Medical Groups, the Wing Staff Agencies and our L-3 maintenance professionals, I am truly impressed with how you professionally execute our 14 FTW mission: Produce Pilots, Advance Airmen, and Feed the Fight."

During the calls, Nichols took the time to give a brief overview of his career, introducing himself and his family to the wing. He went on to express his gratitude, concerns and plans for the future of Team BLAZE. He also emphasized a few things he felt were important including respect and discipline.

Nichols expressed how glad he was to be in command of Columbus AFB.

"I look forward to meeting and talking with you and learning your stories," said Nichols. "You are the engine that drives the U.S. Air Force and I am proud to serve with each of you."
