A change of command ceremony was held Aug. 12 at the
Fire Station, celebrating Col. Kurt Kayser taking command of
the 14th Mission Support Group.
Col. John Nichols, 14th Flying Training Wing Commander,
handed the guidon for the 14 MSG to Kayser signifying a formal
transfer of authority and responsibility for the unit. This
signifies an allegiance of personnel to their unit's commander
and also ensures the unit is never without official leadership.
"I'm excited to take over the 14 MSG," said Kayser. "Taking
command of a group is a great thing and I'm excited to lead
them. I know I'm taking over a group with a great legacy."
Kayser previously served as the Commander,
Air Force Element for the Defense Intelligence
Agency, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.
He received his commission in 1991 from the
Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a core
Personnel Officer who has had a myriad of assignments
in various support specialties. Kayser
has commanded a Training Support Squadron,
United States Air Force Academy Cadet Squadron,
Security Forces Element and now a diverse,
joint Agency Service Element. His deployments
include support of Operations New Dawn, Noble
Eagle and Joint Endeavor.
He is married to the former Joanne Marie Raditz,
also from Wisconsin, and they have two children,
Kaden and Allegra.
