The Columbus Air Force Base Chiefs Group and Top 3 Organization held a Professional Development class Oct. 22 to teach junior enlisted Airmen and NCOs the skills they will need to excel in their careers.

This class was the second course in a series of Professional Development courses. While the first course met on Oct. 8 and discussed bullet writing and the Evaluation Management System, the second course focused on 360 degree leadership and teamwork.

"These courses are expanding on the Air Force priority of developing Airmen and their families, as well as supporting our wing mission of Advancing Airmen," said Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Garcia, 14th Operations Group Superintendent. "We identified that there has been a gap in professional development being offered on this base, and knowing that it is a priority in the mission of ours, we just restarted these sessions."

Garcia said these courses aren't just focused on the enlisted force but all members of Team BLAZE as well.

"One of the needs that have been addressed amongst the community is the need for professional development, so we are using the new fiscal year as when we wanted to start the courses and [we're] doing at least two courses a month," Garcia said.

Individuals who wish to attend a Professional Development Course can sign up for a course at the following link: https://cs3.eis.af.mil/sites/OO-ED-AE-31/default.aspx, located on SharePoint. Refer to the Course Registration link in the top left corner. There are 30 seats in every class.

"The purpose of the professional development courses are to enhance learning, supervisory skills and communication," said Senior Master Sgt. David Sommers, 14th Comptroller Squadron Superintendent. "Overall, it makes everyone a better Airman but they have to continually practice what they learn."
