Retirees from the local area visited Columbus Air Force Base Dec. 6 to attend an information fair and base tour for Retiree Appreciation Day.

"The Retiree Appreciation Day was a great success, albeit long overdue," said Col. Kurt Kayser, 14th Mission Support Group Commander. "I believe it was meaningful to both the retirees as well as those who helped plan and execute the event. We gained valuable input from those who attended, including a volunteer to fill the vacant 'Retiree Activities Officer' position. We valued the opportunity to reengage with the retired community and reaffirm our commitment to serving them as fellow members of Team Blaze."

The first event for the retirees was a free breakfast and information fair. The information fair allowed retirees to talk to base personnel about different services offered to retirees. Personnel at the information fair supplied retirees with first-aid kits, brochures and flu shots.

Following the information fair, the retirees attended a short mission brief and received a tour of the base. The base tour showed them the changes that have been made to the 14th Flying Training Wing and the base buildings.
