The Amazing Race “Blazes” to the finish

The Amazing Race Awards ceremony culminated with the HAWC Blaze Race Friday morning. Seventeen five-member teams began their journey to Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, on June 20. After fun and sometimes rigorous challenges, eight teams made it to Wright-Pat and beyond. 

The Fab Five took home first place in the competitive category. Team members included: Master Sgt. Andrea Sanders, team captain, Senior Master Sgt. Judy Griffis, Senior Master Sgt. Renee McCullum, Master Sgt. Shelli Fisher and Airman 1st Class Teresa Jordan. The team racked up 1,145 miles. 

The King and His Court, who completed 781 miles, took home second place in the competitive category. The team members included: 1st Lt. Earl Alexander, team captain, Col. Dave Gerber, Capt. Scott Frohardt, Master Sgt. Isvan Mercer and Tech. Sgt. Jamie Hopkins. 

In the non-competitive category Logan's Heroes took home the trophy. The team consisted of: Ida Hall, team captain, Capt. (Ch) William Logan, Veronica Hackler, Cely Recto and Tech. Sgt. Floyd Recto. The team racked up 1,460 miles during the competition. They also won the award for the most miles. 

The second place non-competitive team was Free Ride. The team members included: Senior Airman Melissa Free, team captain, Tech. Sgt. Steve Butler, Shelley Coleff, Brian Coleff and Megan Coleff. The team accumulated 1,373 miles during the competition.
