A BLAZE Race for all ages Published Feb. 27, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Danielle Hill 14th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. -- The Health and Wellness Center hosted the annual BLAZE Race Feb. 23. More than 100 participants competed in a 5k walk/run and a 10k run. Awards where given to the top three males and top three females in both the 10k and 5k, as well as, the top male and female in each age group. Participants were broken into categories dependent on their age. The groups ranged from 19 and under to over 70. Todd Hagadone was the overall 10k winner with a time of 33:36. Nathan Milan was the overall 5k winner with a time of 21:08. The top three male 10k runners were: Hagadone, Mike Brown, with a time of 37:52, and Sean Jackson, with a time of 38:36. The top three female 10k runners were: Allison Flaherty, with a time of 46:48, Jenny Brooks, with a time of 48:34, and Kathleen Thurber, with a time of 49:35. The top three male runners for the 5k were: Milan, Kevin Kugel, with a time of 21:10, and Steven Butler, with a time of 21:13. The top three female runners for the 5k were: Donna Mellott, with a time of 22:17, Kristi Contardo, with a time of 23:23, and Katharine Thomas, with a time of 28:45.
