Colonel Roger Watkins, 14th Flying Training Wing commander, was introduced to the 14th Mission Support Group and its facilities July 10, 11 and 14 during his immersion process.

The immersion process is intended to familiarize the wing commander with the operations and responsibilities of the different groups on base.

"I'm exited about getting out and seeing the people," said Colonel Watkins.

Throughout the tour, Colonel Watkins was able to learn about the various processes and capabilities of the 14th MSG.

"I'm so thrilled about the reception the people of Columbus have had for me and my wife, Leslie. Everyone has been so hospitable," said Colonel Watkins.

Colonel Watkins was able to issue a CAC card and access the automated records management system and had a home-cooked lunch with the firefighters of the 14th Civil Engineer Squadron at the fire department.

He previously had his immersion with the 14th Wing Staff Agency and will later tour the 14th Medical Group and the 14th Operations Group.

Regarding his hopes for leading the BLAZE team, Colonel Watkins said, "I want to know about them (CAFB personnel). People do their job better if they know people care about them."
