Beginning Monday 8 a.m., the 14th Flying Training Wing will be engaging in a one-week war of epic proportion. The ammunition you ask? Pennies.

That's right, the small piece of copper that stagnates at the bottom of many purses, in the change container in many vehicles or in a kids' piggy bank at home.

The rules of engagement are simple: pennies count as positive points, silver coins and paper money count as negative points. The objective is to have the most positive points at the conclusion of the war. Sabotage of other units' penny jars in the form of silver coins or paper money is allowed and highly encouraged.

Use this opportunity to show some pride in your unit while simultaneously embroiling your squadron or group cohorts in a world of shame.

The winning flight will receive an all-inclusive pizza lunch served by the flight with the lowest tally. The proceeds from Penny War will be used to help defray some of expenses for the 14th Flying Training Wing's 2008 Air Force Ball taking place Thursday, Sept. 18. For more information, contact Capt.
