14th Flying Training Wing commander selected for new assignment

The commander of the 14th Flying Training Wing has been selected for his next assignment following his two-year tour at Columbus AFB.

After two years leading the 14th FTW, Colonel Watkins will pass command to Col. Barre R. Seguin, currently the commander of the 8th Operations Group, Kunsan AB, Korea, in a 10:00 a.m. change-of-command ceremony July 28.
 
Colonel Seguin, a Command Pilot with over 3,000 hours in the T-37, T-38 and F-16C aircraft, was commissioned in 1988 after receiving his degree in Mathematics and Economics from the State University of New York.

Col. Roger Watkins will take the reins as Commandant, Squadron Officer College, Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. SOC is the Air Force's center for company grade officer professional development.

SOC houses two resident-education programs specifically targeted at the developmental needs of junior officers. Squadron Officer School, established in 1950 and the Air and Space Basic Course, established in 1998.

The College fulfills this role by educating and mentoring its students during the most crucial period of their development; their early, formative years as current and future air, space and cyberspace leaders.

Colonel Watkins will assume command at Maxwell AFB, Ala. in a formal ceremony on July 30.
