After three hours of using internal base reserves, commercial water service has been restored to Columbus AFB allowing the emergency water restriction lifted. The emergency declaration came after base officials were alerted to low water pressure alarms from the commercial provider. At no time did the main base water system drop below 65 psi. Water service was temporarily interrupted when a due to a fire hydrant being damaged in the city of Columbus. "The quick recognition and adherence to minimize water usage across the base allowed us keep sufficient water in our system," remarked Col. Roger Watkins, 14th Flying Training Wing commander. "I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and team effort." Columbus Air Force Base officials have determined the water to be potable and will resume normal flying training operations as scheduled Tuesday.
