The men and women of Team BLAZE took some time Sept. 25 to say thank you to
the men and women who have retired from service in the armed forces.

This year's Columbus AFB Annual Retiree Appreciation Day saw visitors from
hundreds of miles away coming to learn about Columbus AFB, the base's services
and opportunities for retirees.

Nearly every organization on-base, from the commissary to family housing, and from
the legal office to the local Air Force Association chapter, had booths at the event, showcasing their services that are available for retirees. In addition, those
attending had the chance to receive a tour of the base.

During lunch, retirees were greeted by 14th Flying Training Wing Vice Commander Col. George Ross. Colonel Ross thanked the retirees for their service to their country in peace time and war. He also thanked many of them for their continued service as volunteers at Columbus AFB, while also encouraging everyone to volunteer, whether on-base or in the community.

Retiree Appreciation Day is held each year in the fall at Columbus AFB.
