The Chaplain, Air Education and Training Command, visited Columbus Air Force Base Feb. 9-11 meeting with Team BLAZE members and offering the invocation at the Annual Awards Banquet.

Chaplain (Col.) Bobby Page met with Columbus AFB Airmen during his visit, which centered on meeting the 14th Flying Training Wing Chapel staff.

"It is a great privilege to get to come to Columbus AFB," Chaplain Page said. "I came here to be a part-time cheerleader, a part-time coach to cheer on this chaplain team that is taking care of Airmen and their families here. And they are doing wonderful things."

The chaplain said coming here allows him to meet with Airmen and their families and help address their troubles and concerns.

While visiting Team BLAZE, Chaplain Page was able to meet with two groups of those Airmen, the most recent First Term Airman Center class and the AETC Key Spouse of the Year Perla Hopkins, and her husband, Capt. Bart Hopkins, 14th Operations Support Squadron Weather.

"It'd be fun to rewind the clock and trade places with (the FTAC students) and serve our country again," Chaplain Page said.

Chaplain Page said meeting with Mrs. Hopkins and the FTAC class were two of the highlights of his visit here.

The chaplain also had words for those that might be facing trials or troubles in their lives.

"Every person has a dark day, a difficult time, sometime in their life," Chaplain Page said. "We were not meant to go through those times alone. There is a loving god who will go through those times with us. He helps us through the people around us, our wingmen.

"Some of their wingmen on this base is one of the great chaplains assigned here. I hope you let us chaplains be a wingman to you."

Chaplain Page also added that chaplains offer complete confidentiality when spoken to.
