October marks the beginning of a new fiscal year and the beginning of this year's Combined Federal Campaign. This year the campaign spans from Oct. 11 to Nov. 22.

The CFC brings together federal employees throughout the United States and abroad to take part in the largest and most successful workplace charity campaign in the United States. Last year's campaign raised over $125,000 locally for a multitude of worthwhile charitable organizations. Along with the more prominent national and state charities, several local charities are represented in this year's campaign. The Officer of Personnel Management annually reviews and scrutinizes each charity to ensure legitimacy and accountability.

This year's CFC comes during a time of continued economic concerns and uncertainty. With so many in need, it is more important than ever to open our hearts and our wallets to extend a helping hand. Last year, Columbus Air Force Base rose to the challenge and significantly surpassed its CFC goal. There are expectations this year will be no different as Columbus AFB personnel rally together to meet our goal of raising $100,000 in support of those most deserving.

Federal employees participate voluntarily and can locate CFC representatives throughout the base. Participants can track contributions via the base thermometer located just inside the main gate. Please view the following website for detailed information regarding the CFC and its charities: www.opm.gov/cfc.
