Isler bids farewell to Columbus AFB

COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. --  Col. Matt Isler, 14th Flying Training Wing vice commander, has been selected for reassisgnent to be the Executive Officer to the Commander, Pacific Air Forces; Air Component Commander for U.S. Pacific Command; and Executive Director, Pacific Air Combat Operations Staff, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.

The Pacific Air Forces is responsible for Air Force activities spread over half the globe in a command that supports 45,000 Airmen serving principally in Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Alaska and Guam.

As the 14th FTW vice commander, he is responsible for day-to-day operations of base support functions and mission activities of more than 2,744 people, an operations and maintenance budget of $110 million and capital assets and equipment exceeding $740 million. In addition, the wing supports seven associate units and provides essential contingency mission support for Air Education and Training Command, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Isler is a Command Pilot with over 3,100 flying hours in the F-15C/D, T-37B, T-38C and is currently a fully qualified instructor pilot in the T-6 Texan II.

Colonel Isler began his assignment at Columbus AFB in July 2011 and his last day will be March 8.

Col. Howard McArthur, Headquarters, U.S. Transportation Command, TCJ-3 West Operations Chief, Scott AFB, Ill., has been selected to replace Col Isler. Colonel McArthur will arrive at Columbus AFB this summer following Pilot Instructor Training at Randolph AFB, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
