Those who have stepped into the Columbus Chapel recently may have felt as though they were transported back in time 1000 years. A team of volunteers descended on the chapel in May to prepare for this year's Vacation Bible School, which was themed "Kingdom Rock."

This year's Vacation Bible School occurred June 3rd through 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Seventy-six children benefited from the hard work of 51 volunteers. The Chief-Among-Heros volunteer was Heidi Ringer who said her favorite part of the event was being able to work with the kids.

Every year our Protestant and Catholic communities exhibit the attitude of excellence as they prepare to teach spiritual life principles to the Team BLAZE children. The preparation goes well beyond the decorations and set-up. A week's worth of games, music, Bible lessons, crafts and meals are organized for over 100 children.

Vacation Bible School is about more than children simply getting together for a week, it's about accomplishing the Columbus AFB mission. While helping our pilots and supporting airmen train their children in spiritual matters we are also feeding tomorrow's fight. Those who stepped forward to volunteer for this year's Vacation Bible School played an invaluable role in accomplishing that mission, and the Columbus AFB Chapel Staff would like to say a very sincere "Thank You."
