Email changes to add inbox space, increase efficiency for CAFB users Published May 24, 2018 By Airman 1st Class Keith Holcomb 14th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs COLUMBUS AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- In a few weeks, service members and employees at Columbus Air Force Base will notice a major improvement with their government email accounts. The Air Force is implementing changes through 2018 and 2019 to allow the email systems to be more productive to use and create easier and more cost effective ways to upgrade the systems in the future. With efforts from the 14th Communications Squadron, personnel on Columbus AFB will have their current email seamlessly changed so everyone will have an inbox with 100 gigabytes of storage instead of 90 megabytes without losing any of their current data.“Eighty percent of our test group clicked the email button and it just came up, they didn’t notice they had even transitioned fully,” said Staff Sgt. Vincent Deola, 14th CS NCO in charge. “The others had to log into a certain website, opening and closing their email, and within an hour their inbox size changed from 90 MB to 100 GB.”The website will be linked in an email from the 14th CS and will also be available on the BLAZE Bulletin.“The users will not notice any changes other than the inbox size increase,” Deola said. “We’re here for the individuals, though the transition should be seamless. Many emails will be sent out to those effected, so nobody will be left out and the cybersecurity liaisons will be briefed on the changes being made.”The changes will allow the communications unit to implement other changes such as possible increases to archive sizes and similar upgrades.
