Local World War II veteran laid to rest

A picture of the late John Cockerham, a local Word War II veteran, when he was in the Army Air Corps. Cockerham grew up in Hamilton and worked as an aircraft sheet-metal worker on Columbus Army Air Field, Mississippi, (now Columbus Air Force Base) from 1942-1943. After enlisting in the Army Air Corps, he was assigned to the 100th Bombardment Group as a B-17 Flying Fortress gunner in the Army Air Corps. (Courtesy photo)
