Office of the Staff Judge Advocate
The Columbus Air Force Base Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides legal support across the installation while delivering legal assistance services to eligible military members, retirees, and their families.
Our office assists eligible clients with wills, powers of attorney, notary services, and advice on a variety of personal civil legal matters, including, but not limited to, landlord-tenant issues, family law (divorce, child custody, support, adoption), consumer law, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), and Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) legal support.

General Powers of Attorney: General Powers of Attorney grant broad legal authority and are appropriate only in limited circumstances. Most clients only need a Special Power of Attorney tailored to a specific transaction, such as selling a vehicle, purchasing or leasing a home, shipping household goods, or other specific matters. Special Powers of Attorney are available during walk-in hours.
Legal Assistance Eligibility
Legal assistance services are available to:
- Active duty members and their dependents
- Reserve and Guard members on federal active duty and their dependents
- Military retirees and their dependents
- Eligible surviving family members

Special Victims’ Counsel (SVC)
Special Victims’ Counsel provide independent legal representation to eligible victims of sexual assault and certain other offenses. SVC attorneys are separate from the base legal office and represent only the interests of their clients.
