International Spouses showed appreciation at luncheon
Columbus Air Force Base and East Mississippi Community College hosted the International Spouses Appreciation Luncheon Nov. 9 at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. An annual event, the luncheon celebrates the international flavor of life in the Golden Triangle, as the foreign-born spouses of student pilots and contractors visit with members of the community. The hostesses were Nancy Seguin, the wife of Col. Barre Seguin, commander of the 14th Flying Training Wing, and Linda Gates, EMCC’s director of Job Placement and Work-based Learning program and the college’s military liaison. The committee responsible for planning the event included Brenda Caradine, Diane Clardy, Sarah Garcia, Marlen Hansen, Marti Ross, Patricia Wilson, Kristie Walford and Old Waverly Golf Club.

Donald Hoffman, commander Air Force Materiel Command, marked the Air Force’s 63rd Birthday by cutting the ceremonial cake during the event Friday Sept. 10 held in the Trotter Convention Center. It is tradition that the most senior ranking and junior ranking members at the Air Force Birthday Ball cut the Air Force’s birthday cake together. To put the difference in rank into perspective when Airman Moore was on his way to his first day of kindergarten in 1996, General Hoffman was taking command of the 14th Operations Group at Columbus AFB.
