6/3/2008 - COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. -- Lieutenant Col. Kirk Edens relinquished command of the 14th Medical Support Squadron to Lt. Col. Michael Cupito Tuesday in a ceremony at the Columbus Club.
Colonel Cupito was previously the Chief of the Medical Logistics Branch in the Office of the Command Surgeon, Pacific Air Force Bases at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, where he oversaw the logistics operations at nine medical treatment facilities encompassing more than $4 million in annual sales, a $100 million equipment inventory and $80 million of war reserve material.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting, he joined the Air Force in 1992. He later received a Master of Science degree with a Concentration in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University while stationed McGuire AFB, N.J, as an Information Management Specialist.
He joined the Medical Service Corps and attended the Health Services Administration School at Sheppard AFB, Texas, and went on to complete a medical logistics internship at Andrews AFB, Md., and since has served as a Medical Logistics Flight Commander, Group Practice Manager, Medical Information Systems Flight Commander and as Medical Readiness Officer at the base level. Colonel Cupito was Chief of Combat Support Operations for the Air Force Medical Logistics Office at Fort Detrick, Md.
He has also served at the Air Staff and Major Command levels in medical logistics roles.
In his opening remarks as the new 14th MDSS commander, Colonel Cupito said, "I would like to thanks Colonel Hall for showing faith in me and hiring me for this job."
He also went on to thank his family for their support and said he looks forward to working with the BLAZE team.
Colonel Edens retired Thursday from the Air Force and will be moving to Oregon. |
