The Air Force designed the Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental standards. The primary objectives of ESOHCAMP are to improve Air Force environmental, safety, and occupational health compliance and management worldwide, and build supporting financial programs and budgets for ESOH compliance requirements.

Air Education and Training Command Headquarters conducts an external assessment at each command installation every three years while each base conducts an internal assessment in the two off years. Columbus will perform an internal assessment Oct. 1 through 5. A cross-functional team comprised of representatives, both military and civilian, from organizations such as the 14th Medical Group, Legal, DynCorp, 14th Mission Support Group and Safety will assess the following areas: Air Emissions, Water Quality and Wastewater, Hazardous Waste, Hazardous Materials, Natural and Cultural Resources, Pesticides, POL, Solid Waste, Toxics, Occupational Health, Storage Tanks, Other Environmental Issues, EMS and Safety Management.

The assessment will provide a "snapshot in time" analysis of the health of our environment, safety and occupational health programs and will help prepare organizations for the upcoming Operational Readiness Inspection in May 2008.
